Black Sea Holiday Apartments

About the project

Location: Saint Vlas, Bulgaria

Building type: 12 apartments and a swimming pool

Surface: 800 m²

Project and realization: 2005–2009

The building is situated on a highly inclined parcel on Rusalka Street in Saint Vlas and consists of six floors, on which twelve apartments are designed. They all have exceptional panoramic view: southwest to the sea and Nessebar Bay and northeast to the woods and Stara Planina Mountain.

The main entrance is from the park and is located on the third level, next to the garden and swimming pool. The staircase is in the core of the building and has atrium skylight.

The architecture is inspired by the traditional Nessebar house, and the cladding is of stone and wood. It is environmentally friendly and its standards of insulation corresponds to the requirements of sustainable development.

The contemporary style of the facades avoids the cliches in the interpretation of the classical Bulgarian architecture. The building is innovative and could serve as an example for implementing tradition in contemporary architecture along the Black Sea coast.
